Hello everyone! We hope that you were able to participate with our Bon Kathina, if not here are some of the update information. It was a huge success! Khmer families from all around the vicinity of San Jose came to help. We were able to fund-raise over $46,000.
It was a wonderful sight to see all the smiles on the children faces and the adults as well. We understand there were some who were not able to make it, so at the bottom is an attached clip of the ceremony.
Every year, the celebration of Bon Kathina get bigger and bigger. If you missed it, do not worry there is another one in less than a year! If you are interested in the upcoming event, feel free to drop by our community center. We are always open! See you soon!
We cordially invite you to Bon Pchum Ben. The event is on Saturday, September 20, 2014 to Sunday, September 21, 2014.
Bon Pchum Ben is considered to be a unique event for Cambodians. As it is the day to remember and honor the Ancestors. The celebration will consist of monks chanting the suttas continuously through the night, and the offering of food. We believe the food offerings will directly transfer from the living to the dead.
